Frank: new kernel & other packages

Updated Frank packages have been published. Among them, the kernel derived from latest Fedora 16 update. This kernel, together wih the other Frank packages, satisfies completely the shorewall requirements (see shorewall show capabilities after installing xtables-addons and xtables-addons-kmod). Other packages include Openswan-2.6.37.

New linux-atm packages

New linux-atm packages were published in Lux. These are derived from Fedora, updated to version 2.5.2.
Among other things, these packages attempt an integration of the atm interfaces atm with the bootstrap system of RHEL6/CentOS6.
Altough this component may seem marginal, it is essential to give the system Casa its peculiar advantages.

Lux: new kernel

A new kernel il available in the Lux repository for CentOS6. It is based on the latest centosplus kernel, version 2.6.32-220.4.2.el6.
In addition to the features previously available, ipt-ACCOUNT, IMQ scheduler, Jumbo patch and bridge-ipmode by Julian Anastasov, netfilter-layer7 patch, we added KLIPS, the ipsec stack from Openswan which can optionally be used instead of Netkey.

Fixed: “MTP Device” keeps popping up

I struggled for some time with a Samsung Galaxy S (Android cell phone). Connected via USB to my PC with Windows XP, it does not work: the PC continuously discovers a new “MTP Device” but the device never works (error code 41). The problem seems to be fairly common, but the solutions found online did not work. Moreover, the problem does not seem to be limited to this particular device: it seems to be spread over many devices that expose a Media Transfer Protocol inteface (MTP indeed).
Taking a look at setupapi.log, we see that the device class is EEC5AD98-8080-425f-922A-DABF3DE3F69A.
Open the register, go to HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{EEC5AD98-8080-425f-922A-DABF3DE3F69A} and we note that there is an UpperFilter, KLFLTDEV. Too bad that this device does not exist .. seems to be a remnant of an old Kaspersky installation. Deleted the UpperFilters key, the problem is solved without even the need to reboot.

New Horde vacation and forwards packages

In the last two days I worked on a mail service with Postfix, Postfix Admin and Horde IMP. You can read about Postfix Admin in the previous post.
I wanted to implement the functionality of the Horde modules vacation and forwards in the setup of Postfix Admin. I had to give up using the postfixadmin standard driver because it is incomplete. For this reason I implemented a new driver called luxpa in these packages.
